There is a range of EGO lawn mowers that is right for you
Back in 2014, we had the pleasure of testing the first EGO LM2001 battery powered lawn mower. Since then, they've significantly expanded their lineup and maintained a lead in the competition for the best battery-powered lawnmower game.
While the top of the lineup of their current lineup of over a dozen lawnmowers is near the top of the price list (at least for residential models), they also have some great-value solutions if you're shopping for an EGO mower on a tighter budget. . Overall, they do a great job of meeting all the needs of their customers.

EGO 56V ArcLithium battery technology
The EGO runs on a 14-core system that generates 56 volts. While their 2.0Ah and 2.5Ah batteries are EGO's preferred choice for lawnmowers and hedge trimmers, we prefer the 5.0Ah and 7.5Ah battery packs for our lawnmowers. 1 battery typically covers 1/4 acre of lawn, 2 batteries cover 1/2 acre or more.
For larger properties, consider a 10Ah or 12Ah battery.
One thing that sets the EGO apart from other cordless lawn mower options is its battery design. The internal cells match the curved battery pack design, helping to cool the pack more efficiently. Each battery also has a phase-change coating that helps cool them down faster.

Batteries with some real world testing
When we tested the cordless lawn mower in central Florida, the batteries tended to heat up quickly between the heat and the tougher St. Augustine and Bahia grass species. Batteries that do not reach thermal shutdown through full battery discharge need to rest before the charger considers it safe to charge them.
Except ego. Even when we did some grueling tests of their newest lawnmowers at a turf farm, the batteries we used started charging immediately, in some cases getting them back to playtime earlier than other brands.

Another piece of good news is that EGO runs their entire line of products on 56V batteries – even their zero-turn lawn mowers. If you want to buy an EGO mower first and then upgrade to another model, the battery will work too.
The same is true if you want to add other lawn care equipment, such as string trimmers, hedge trimmers, or blowers. If you're looking for battery-powered inverters, they're the same batteries that run the Nexus Power Station.
Still, we recommend the entire line, although each model is suitable for a different user. Choosing the right model based on your needs and expectations is key to getting the best experience.
New 2023 EGO Mower Models
EGO's lineup is already impressive, but they're adding at least five more models for 2023, including another riding lawn mower. Overall, they position the market well and offer consumers many additional options.

Best EGO Zero Turn Lawn Mowers
ZT5207L Z6 52 inch zero turn lawn mower

The EGO ZT5207L 52-Inch Zero-Turn Mower increases the deck size of the original EGO ZT4204L Zero-Turn Mower while keeping everything we love. This best EGO lawn mower article wouldn't be complete without it. We appreciate the ease of use that 2023 E-Steer models with steering wheels bring, but you can't deny the larger deck and familiar controls of this 52-inch ZT.
The EGO 52-Inch Zero Turn has a lot going for it. If we had to boil it down to a few key points, here's what you'd get:
- Fabricated Deck
- 6 x 12Ah batteries (max run time)
- 8MPH Maximum Mowing Speed
- 4 acres on a single charge
- car battery charging
- LED headlights/taillights
- smooth control
For residential users looking to forego gasoline, the EGO 52-Inch Zero Steering offers the most refined residential mowing solution on the market today.

Best EGO Walk-Behind Lawn Mowers
LM2130SP Select Cut XP Self-Propelled Lawn Mower

Without a doubt, we think the EGO Select Cut XP Mower is the top walk-behind lawn mower available. It's not just in the EGO line, we think it's the best of all cordless home lawn mowers.
It has a stacking blade system, currently only EGO has this system in the electric trolley segment. The "Select Cut" in the name is because you get two blade options that come with the kit. One blade provides quality cut and better uptime, and the other blade optimizes coverage. Depending on our grass growth rate, we use mulching blades.
It's not the most powerful or the most expensive in the EGO lineup. But if the weather or the holidays force you to leave your lawn open for a few more days, it can even handle some overgrown power. It also has a newly designed drive control system that we prefer to EGO's other self-propelled models.
Estimated kit run time: 60 minutes
Price: $799 for a kit with 10.0Ah battery and fast charger
Most Powerful EGO Lawn Mower
LM2142SP Peak Power Self-Propelled Lawn Mower

When we tested gasoline and battery-powered lawn mowers side-by-side, we thought gasoline would easily outpace what any brand was capable of with batteries. The 21-inch EGO Peak Power self-propelled mower blew us away, and it outperformed every other mower we tested except for the Honda HRX Series and the EGO Select Cut XP. It also stands apart from several other commercial gas lawn mowers.
Two active battery ports combine the power of two batteries. This allows you to load up to 24.0Ah of battery capacity and achieve higher torque. If your grass grows 3 or more inches between cuts or is very thick, this is the EGO lawn mower you should grab that will give you the power you need for an even cut.
Estimated kit run time: 80 minutes
Price: $799 for a kit that includes two 5.0Ah batteries and a fast charger
Toughest EGO Lawn Mower
LM2021 Steel Deck Self Propelled Lawn Mower

If you're the type of man or woman who wants the toughest build possible, consider EGO's Steel Deck Mower. We actually prefer the push model. Not only will it save you money, it will remove one motor from your list of potential failure points.
The debate between steel and poly (plastic) decks runs deep. In general, steel decks can withstand more abuse. Having said that, we haven't had a Poly Deck fail yet. There is also more design flexibility to optimize airflow than steel.
But there's no denying that the steel mower deck inspires confidence for long-term use. Backed by EGO's 5-year warranty, we fully stand behind the long-term commitment of steel deck sealing.
Estimated kit run time: 60 minutes
Price: $499, includes 5.0Ah battery and charger
Best Value EGO Self-Propelled Lawn Mowers
LM2114SP self-propelled lawn mower

If you're looking to save some money but still get a great self-propelled battery-operated lawn mower, the EGO LM2114SP 21-Inch model is for you.
While more basic than the other models we mentioned above, it's no slouch in the features department. Here are some highlights:
- Covers, bags or side discharges
- vertical storage
- 21" poly deck
- LED headlight
- Single point height adjustment
The kit with the 6.0Ah battery is $549 — still less expensive than most self-propelled cordless mowers of this quality. Finding good value means balancing price, performance, and quality, and that's where EGO has done a good job with this model compared to cheaper solutions.
Estimated kit run time: 60 minutes
Price: $549 for kit with 6.0Ah battery and charger
Best value EGO walk behind lawn mower
LM2101 56V Walk-Behind Lawn Mower

EGO's 21-inch LM2101 walk-behind mower kit is one of the best value for money in the battery-powered mower segment. A $399 kit with a 5.0Ah battery can cover a quarter-acre of lawn on a single charge.
Like its high-value self-propelled cousin, it retains most of the best features of the EGO-based design:
- Covers, bags or side discharges
- vertical storage
- 21" poly deck
- LED headlight
- Single point height adjustment
While you might suspect that reaching such a high value mark would bring questionable performance, this is actually the first EGO mower to exceed the power of an entry-level gas mower.
Estimated kit run time: 45 minutes
Price: $429 (or less) for kit with 5.0Ah battery and fast charger
