Spyder Mach-Blue bits last 100 times longer than titanium bits in metal drilling
Lowe's exclusive Spyder Stinger Mach-Blue HSS drill bits for wood and metal drilling showcase the pinnacle of Spyder performance. The bits act as a billboard for Spyder's Mach-Blue "armor plating," a material that not only gives the bits their distinctive blue hue but also aids in edge retention and heat buildup.
What does Spyder think of the Mach-Blue Stinger bits?
Mach-Blue drill bits are designed to drill holes repeatedly, quickly and cleanly. They cut cleaner and last longer than other premium titanium or cobalt coated bits, even when drilling dense, thick metal.

emphasize
The Stinger HSS Mach-Blue drill joins the brand's expanding line of drilling accessories. Spyder manufactures its bits from heat-treated M-Series tool steels known for their durability. From there, the Spyder coats the drill with a proprietary Mach-Blue coating, an ultra-hard surface coating that helps maintain a sharp cutting edge while reducing heat. This results in faster, cleaner cuts of wood, mild steel, steel, aluminum, stacked materials and other tougher alloys.

They also claim that these Spyder Stinger Mach-Blue HSS bits drill 100 times more holes than titanium or black oxide bits. Spyder even claims that Mach-Blue drills can drill holes 8 times faster than titanium drills, but we'd love to see those claims put to the test in the real world.
M2 HSS vs Cobalt vs Spyder M-Series Alloys
We have received some useful information from Spyder on how their new M-series alloy bits stack up against cobalt and M2 HSS (standard high speed steel) bits.
