The Simpson PowerShot 3700 PSI Pressure Washer is part of the Simpson Pro line of products designed for professionals. It is suitable for restoring wood, cleaning hard surfaces and preparing for painting. This has been my forte since I painted structures for a living. I've used a Simpson PS60982 pressure washer to get ready to paint on several homes and today you'll see me using it on a house that desperately needs it. This machine is up to the task, but professionals need to consider a few things.

Give it a PowerShot
The Simpson PowerShot 3700 PSI Pressure Washer has several great features that are worth recommending. First, the welded steel frame is compact, lightweight and strong. Its air-filled tires roll smoothly almost anywhere. The design allows easy access to all important functions: gas, oil, throttle and hose spigots.
Starting it is easy thanks to its reliable Honda engine—an excellent choice for this machine. It even has a low oil shutdown feature, but we chose not to test it ! Check the oil, turn the choke to the open position, pull a second time — if not the first — and you're up and running.

The only problem with the Simpson Powershot 3700 PSI Pressure Washer in this review was the pressure drop on start-up. It may take a few minutes at a time to build up enough pressure to start working. Pull the trigger, and there's a burst of water, then fades away. This isn't an uncommon pressure washer behavior, but it's kind of annoying.
After this brief interval, however, the pressure remained strong throughout. The PowerShot has been proven capable of cleaning the dirtiest surfaces with its 3700 PSI.

note for painters
However, for painters, the Simpson PowerShot 3700 PSI Pressure Washer is not all about PSI. To be sure, if Painting Pros had a higher PSI pressure washer for hard surfaces, they could offer their customers a nice upsell. After all, a beautiful new paint job looks even better after a walk and drive with a pressure wash. But I use a cleaner that does most of the tough cleaning, so I'm actually more interested in GPM than PSI.
I point this out because paint prep is listed among the features of the Simpson PowerShot 3700 PSI Pressure Washer. The machine certainly does the job, but I find myself pushing it to the edge of capability in terms of volume, while not needing all the PSI very often. I need to wash off the cleaner quickly without spraying dirty surfaces in my home. This may cause damage that I have to fix. Of course, this doesn't necessarily apply to professionals in other industries. good news? Simpson makes all types of pressure washers, including higher flow models.

The tough MorFlex hose won't kink and comes in a generous 50' length. Painting professionals may need longer hoses, though, since they often work all the way around a structure. I proceed to pick up another one. I also added my own quickconnects – it would be a nice bonus if Simpson included them.
wash this
For the price, which we'll discuss in a minute, the Simpson PowerShot 3700 PSI Pressure Washer is a fine machine. You really have to add dollars to get more GPM and PSI, so the popularity of this model is understandable.

Pro Tip: To make it more compact for storage or transport, remove the handle and turn it over. You'll have to fiddle with the wand and hose a bit, but you'll gain room for some other equipment you might need.

the bottom line
The Simpson PowerShot 3700 PSI Pressure Washer has several great features that are worth recommending. You get a tough and compact design, a low-oil-stop Honda engine, tough MorFlex hoses, air-filled tires, and more. It takes a few minutes after starting to build up enough pressure for sustained jetting, something we've seen with other machines. With 3700 PSI, it's a powerful dirt surface cleaner. Painting professionals may end up choosing a model with a higher GPM, but they will have to pay more for it.
