The Ryobi One+ HP power tools are introduced as a more compact and powerful line of DIY and craftsman tools. These new tools introduce brushless motors, new electronics and newer, slimmer battery packs. The introduction of the Ryobi One+ HP (High Performance) has a lot to do with producing more powerful tools in a more compact form factor. In addition to really shrinking the size of the battery pack, the One+ HP battery also brings a new, oversized fuel gauge.

The original Ryobi ONE+ HP Power Tools line includes six new tools in a variety of configurations. More tools were added to the initial release soon. All tools exist as bare tools or as part of a kit with one or more 1.5Ah Ryobi One+ HP battery packs. Ryobi also has a dual tool kit (PSBCK01K) with a new 1/2" drill and 1/4" impact driver. These new tools seem powerful at first glance, but they really stick to the company's main focus on DIY applications.

Ryobi One+ HP Compact 1/2" Drill

Optimized for weight and size, the Ryobi PSBDD01K 18V ONE+ HP Cordless Drill is a powerful new drill that rivals the competition. They demonstrate the tool for drilling through metal studs using a 1-inch hole saw. Ryobi also demonstrates a runtime for similar tools. Using a new One+ HP battery pack with a 1/2" spade bit, it did 111 holes in the 2×4 pine.

Ryobi One+ HP 3/8" Compact Brushless Right Angle Drill

Ryobi claims this is the most compact right-angle drill in the industry, with a depth of just 3.6 inches from the collet to the back of the head. The target's compact size and powerful features make it a handy tool for those who need to work up close. The demo consisted of drilling through double layered 2x4s using a 3/4 inch drill bit.
Because of the paddle trigger, you can choke near the top of the handle, or use it traditionally. The iI also allows you to gain extra leverage by placing your hand on the back of the tool. As far as compactness goes, you can really squeeze it into those smaller spaces – like when driving an electrical box or installing hinges or drawer pulls between two closely spaced studs.
- Model (bare metal): PSBRA02B
- Collet: 3/8" single socket
- 2 speed gearbox
- 2 speeds: 0-450/1700 RPM

Ryobi ONE+ HP 1/4" Impact Driver

Ryobi targets professionals and DIY enthusiasts looking for a compact and lightweight solution for repetitive and/or overhead applications. The brushless motor on the Ryobi PSBID01 provides enough runtime to last a full day on a pair of ONE+ HP batteries.
The Ryobi includes the expected LED work lights as well as variable speed triggers. One feature we really like is the one-handed bit release. To drive larger fasteners, Ryobi increases torque to 1,700 inch-pounds. Running looks good too, as we see this impact driver pack 211 2.5" deck screws into pressure-treated 4×4 lumber atop a single 1.5Ah One+ HP battery.
- Model (kit): PSBID01K
- Brushless Motor
- Impact: 3,800 IPM
- Speed: 2,900 rpm

- Price: $129 (kit with 2 batteries and charger)
Ryobi One+ HP One-Handed Reciprocating Saw

The Ryobi ONE+ HP Compact One-Handed Reciprocating Saw looks similar to other models we've seen. As you might expect, a one-handed reciprocating saw reduces the overall tool size. They also reduce weight. Professionals find these tools useful when working with arms outstretched or getting into tight areas of crawl spaces or attics. It does save a lot of space over the Ryobi P517 18V reciprocating saw.
We've seen the tool cut 2×4 and PVC materials quickly and easily. While not surprising or unusual, we do like the implementation of the easy-release blade levers. It releases the blade without forcing you to grab it when it's hot or while wearing gloves. Cutting with EMT, it also shows that the 5/8 inch stroke length optimizes the tool for metal, PVC and clean wood cutting. This is a great addition to a full size reciprocating saw.
- Model (bare knife): PSBRS01B
- Speed: 3,000 SPM
- Brushless Motor
- Easy-release blade bar
- Travel: 5/8 inch
- Compact 13" long
- Adjustable Swivel Shoes
- led light
- Price: $99 (bare metal)
Ryobi One+ 4 Mode 3/8″ Impact Wrench

In addition to having three speeds, the new Ryobi HP 3/8-inch impact wrench also has a fourth mode. This pattern does several things. First, in Forward, once the impact mechanism is activated, it stops the tool. This stops the rotation, allowing you to manually torque to specification with a torque wrench. Instead, it stops the tool as soon as the fastener is released. This prevents you from losing nuts and bolts during disassembly.
They demonstrate the removal of various nuts and bolts with the Ryobi impact wrench. With up to 160 foot-pounds of torque, it's a handy tool. They also performed some tightening tests to demonstrate torque control.
- Model (bare knife): PSBIW01B
- 3/8" Friction Ring Anvil
- Brushless Motor
- Torque: 160 ft-lbs.
- 3 speed (up to 1,900 RPM)
- 3,900IPM
- 4 speed adjustment
- variable speed trigger
- led light
- Length: 5.4 inches
- Price: $119 (bare metal)

You can use this tool to cut anything from wire racks to diamond boards to vinyl siding or threaded rods. It can even cut through ceramic or tile. Of course, it can also handle drywall or 3/4-inch boards such as OSB or plywood.
Ryobi tested it using a carbide abrasive blade cutting vinyl siding (in reverse mode). You can switch the direction of the blade, allowing you to cut forward while rotation provides better performance (think tile cutting versus ripping plywood). During the demo, the abrasive blade quickly cut through the wire rack — though it did create a bunch of sparks.
- Model (bare metal): PSBCS02B
- Dual LED lights on the front of the blade and on the foot of the shoe
- Brushless Motor
- forward/reverse cutting
- Supports 3 inch wheels
- Speed (Max): 19,500 RPM
- Arbor: 3/8" (also includes 5/8" flange)
- adjustable guard
- Stable Wire Holder
- Onboard blade wrench storage

- Price: $99 (bare metal)
- Includes: Cutting Tool, Metal Cut-Off Wheel, Carbide Grinding Blade, Diamond Tile Blade, Hex Wrench, and Operator's Manual.
Ryobi ONE+ 18V High Performance Battery Pack

These new battery packs include extra large fuel gauges. The battery also appears to be more compact than earlier designs. It's like they put the battery on the south beach diet and make it do some pull ups. Currently, Ryobi manufactures new high-performance batteries in the following sizes:
- 2 ah
- 4 Ah
Ryobi ONE+ vs ONE+ HP Tools
In fact, Ryobi smoothed the front and edges of the new tool. It makes new batteries and tools look more "stylish". You can't argue with the results – these batteries make all of Ryobi's tools look better. We're looking forward to seeing these battery packs take over and make the company's 4Ah battery thinner.

Ryobi continues to provide a 3-year warranty on these and other Ryobi power tools. All Ryobi ONE+ HP power tools and batteries are cross-compatible with the company's entire line of 175+ Li-ion cordless products. All tools are exclusive to The Home Depot.
