Milwaukee Hole Hawg Improvements Eliminate Rough Behavior
Milwaukee Tool has just announced the next generation of right angle drills and they have been completely redesigned. Milwaukee told us they optimized these new and improved M18 Fuel Hole Hawgs to produce more power, runtime and speed when used with the new high output battery pack.

The original Hole Hawg was born in the 1970's. In 2014 we saw the introduction of the Milwaukee 2707-20 M18 Hole Hawg. The tool offers good run times and even drills faster and weighs less than their corded models. Six years later, Milwaukee appears to be offering users a more robust solution, claiming to be more of a complete wired replacement. We can't wait to bring this tool in for a review and see if they actually have a completely cordless gnarly tool that makes cords obsolete.
What's the big deal?
The new Milwaukee M18 Fuel Hole Hawgs may look similar to their predecessors, but the brand tells us these new tools deliver more power in high-speed applications. In particular, Milwaukee upgraded the brushless motors and electronics in these tools to draw more power when using the M18 high-output batteries.
The result is a right-angle drill that can deliver more power under load without bogging down. Milwaukee claims that both models hit 1,500 RPM. We're looking forward to seeing how quickly they can punch through a couple of 2×4's in plywood or tackle a larger hole saw.
Additionally, Milwaukee tells us that both models can drill up to 220 7/8-inch holes in a single piece of SPF lumber with a 6 Ah high-output battery.
Weight is another big issue with the next generation Milwaukee M18 Fuel Hole Haw right angle drill. The 2807-20 weighs only 7.7 lbs. (It's only 7.4 pounds heavier than the 2014 model.) The 2808-20 Quik-lok model cuts the weight down to 7.09 pounds. Considering the 2.3 lbs of the XC6.0 battery, you're looking at several power drills that weigh less than 10 lbs.
To put that into perspective, while both tools are a fraction of a pound heavier than the 2014 model, they weigh (including batteries) a little over 1.5 pounds less than a corded Hole Hawg and a little over 5 pounds less than a corded Super Hawg .
The 2807-22 M18 Fuel Hole Hawg comes with a keyed chuck, while the 2808-22 kit comes with Milwaukee's Quik-Lok keyless chuck for one-handed bit changes. It fits most 7/16" flat or fluted shank bits you'll find on augers, self-feed drills, and hole saws.
When can I get it?
The new Milwaukee Hole Hawgs (2807-20 and 2808-20) retail for $279 bare metal. Companion models (2807-22 and 2808-22) retail for $579. Both will be available in June 2020.
Both kits include two 6.0 Ah batteries, a charger and a bag. Like the rest of Milwaukee's line of M18 cordless tools, both versions of this tool come with a 5-year warranty.
