We thought Milwaukee's battery warranty policy was pretty straightforward — until we looked into it. As it turns out, the company has different warranties for different batteries. The Milwaukee battery warranty period for each battery pack depends on the model you purchased.
Good news: Every Milwaukee battery pack sold comes with a warranty. This includes any batteries purchased separately and packaged as part of a wireless product or kit.
However, the battery is only warranted to the original purchaser. Milwaukee also only warrants them to be free from defects in materials and workmanship. That means if you drop the battery from a 12-foot ladder onto concrete, or leave it on the bed of a truck overnight during a rainstorm, you can't get the battery back under warranty. They're also less likely to fix anything you've already tried to "fix" yourself.
What happens to warranty claims?
If Milwaukee determines that the battery is eligible for warranty service, they will repair or replace the battery pack. However, you will need to first return the battery pack to a Milwaukee factory service center or authorized service station, freight prepaid and insured. At that point, the warranty process begins.
When making a Milwaukee battery warranty claim, please include a copy of your proof of purchase with your return.

Warranty period is 5 years from date of purchase/2000 charges, whichever comes first. The first 1000 charges or the 2-year warranty (whichever comes first) is covered with a free replacement of defective batteries. This means that for the earlier of the first 1000 charges or 2 years from date of purchase/first charge, Milwaukee will send the customer a replacement battery free of charge to replace any defective batteries.
Thereafter, remaining fees up to 2000 or the remainder of the 5 years from the date of purchase, whichever comes first, will be paid pro rata. That means every customer gets an additional 1,000 charges or a 3-year pro-rated warranty on these battery packs, depending on usage.
Do I need to register my battery?
According to Milwaukee Tool, you don't need to register your battery pack to receive warranty service. However, if you cannot provide proof of purchase when requesting warranty service, Milwaukee will use the product's date of manufacture to determine the warranty period. So our advice is to save your receipts and file them somewhere for emergencies.
in conclusion
We hope to keep updating this list. If Milwaukee adds a new battery that you don't see here, please comment below and let us know. We will add information as soon as possible. Of course, all Milwaukee cordless M12/M18 power tools come with a (as far as we know) 5 year warranty. Once you've used some of their other products like hand tools and pneumatic systems, the warranty varies, so be sure to check the website if you're not sure if your tool is still under warranty.
