Milwaukee Sockets Make a Profound Impact on Shockwave Lineup
When it comes to impact sockets, there are many quality options. We've been using the Milwaukee 1/2" deep impact socket kit for a while to see if you should consider these instead of some of the other options.
advantage
- Includes rugged hard shell case
- Easy-to-read size markings
- lifetime warranty
- SAE and metric sets available
shortcoming
- no obvious disadvantages
what's in the box
These sockets are a great addition to the already impressive Shockwave range. Six-point SAE kits are available in twelve sizes from 3/8" all the way to 1-1/16". There is also a 14-piece metric set as well as a variety of sizes to choose from.
Like other impact sockets, Milwaukee uses high-strength forged steel to withstand the impact of an impact wrench.

look and feel
The matte black finish on these sockets is the result of the steel being strengthened without detracting from the look of course. We really like that the Milwaukee is painted with stamped size markers. This makes it easy to find the right outlet the first time.
But what about when they get greasy? Markings are deep enough to be seen even with grease on them. So far they've cleaned up fine and don't seem to be getting any less active.

Milwaukee 1/2" Depth Impact Socket in use
The outlets performed exactly as we expected. They fit snugly on our Milwaukee M18 1/2" Compact Impact Wrench without wobbling. The non-slip hex design feels secure and grips fasteners firmly so they don't tighten nuts and bolts as quickly as loose sockets.

My favorite feature is the ring groove on the bottom of the socket. Personally, it's irritating when I'm struggling to unplug an outlet with my greasy hands. Milwaukee solved this problem with this very simple design.

Milwaukee 1/2" Deep Impact Socket Set Prices
Milwaukee lists the set at $74.99, and they offer a lifetime warranty on their impact sockets and extensions. That's in line with other well-known brands, in between the budget brand's pricing and what you'll pay from a tool cart.
the bottom line
Overall, we like what Milwaukee's deep impact sockets have to offer. In our experience, they have a high-quality build and some really useful upgrades that take them a notch above other outlets we've used.
