Metabo HPT Introduces Cordless Metal Connector Nailer NR3665DA

Posted on September 9, 2023 by Philbert Jackson

Metabo HPT Presents Cordless Positive Placement Nailer with Zero Firing Delay

Metabo HPT has made significant strides in the realm of cordless framing nailers. Their latest addition, the Metabo MPT 36V Cordless Metal Connector Nailer, takes their commitment to a hose- and compressor-free experience to new heights.

Metal connector nailers, also known as upright nailers, operate at lower power levels compared to framing nailers. These nailers focus on precision when it comes to the installation of joist hangers and metal connectors, using only 2 1/2-inch and larger .162-inch diameter nails[^1].

What sets the Metabo HPT Cordless Upright Nailer apart is its brushless motor, which enables it to drive nails without any firing delay. Thanks to its air spring system, there is no need for a flywheel system that requires acceleration time[^2].

To ensure safety, the nailer features a mechanical trigger lock on the side of the starter handle. Additionally, a power button needs to be pressed to activate the tool[^3].

The nail gun is designed for sequential fire mode, as bump firing is not practical for its intended purpose. However, if desired, it is capable of shooting approximately 2 nails per second[^4].

In terms of runtime, the Metabo HPT Cordless Metal Connector Nailer is highly efficient. A single 2.5Ah MultiVolt battery can handle up to 900 nail shots at maximum capacity. Furthermore, the tool is capable of firing nails while being charged. For those on a tight budget, the nailer is compatible with the Metabo HPT MultiVolt AC Adapter[^5].

Size and Weight

Due to the frequent overhead work involved with metal connector nailers, it is expected for them to have a compact magazine. Similar to other cordless nailers used in framing, it is slightly heavier compared to pneumatic nailers. The bare metal weighs 9.1 pounds, while the 2.5Ah MultiVolt battery weighs 10.6 pounds[^6].

Strap-Tite Probe Tips

Every positive placement nailer requires a precision tip. Metabo HPT has created a design that allows the tip to be placed into the connector hole and shoot the nail from underneath. The head of the nail can pass through the connector thanks to a mechanism located above and below the nail, making it incredibly easy to place[^7].

Additional Features

The Metabo HPT Cordless Metal Connector Nailer comes with the following additional features:

  • Rafter hook
  • Compatible with all Metabo HPT MultiVolt Batteries and MultiVolt AC Adapters
  • Bottom loading magazine[^8]

The nailer is available as a kit, priced at $479, which includes a 2.5Ah battery and fast charger. Like all of their Li-Ion tools, Metabo HPT provides a lifetime warranty for this nailer[^9].

The Bottom Line

Currently, there are limited options in the market for cordless metal connector nailers. However, Metabo HPT has set a high standard with their 36V model, which will require great effort for any competitor to surpass. If you’re ready to bid farewell to hoses and compressors, the Metabo HPT Cordless Metal Connector Nailer is the ideal choice[^10].
