As we head into winter, we're always aware of buildup in our garages and/or work shops. The truth is, after a season of maintenance, outdoor projects, and home improvements, some organization is almost always in order. If you've walked through a Lowe's Home Improvement warehouse at any point in the past few months, you've likely come across a new line of Kobalt storage cabinets for garage organization. We have reviewed the Kobalt Steel Toolbox with Pioneer Stereo and found it to be a solid product for the money.
The new metal multi-purpose storage cabinets are part of a larger garage storage system that includes a set of cabinets, hanging racks and K-rails, allowing you to store, hang or mount almost anything you can imagine Anything – almost any configuration. There's a lot of room inside — enough room, in fact, to store your Kobalt 4-Tool 20V Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit.
We checked out Kobalt products on a whim because, well, that's what we're doing here — plus, on paper, they seem to be worth the money. The staff believes that the quality of the build outweighs the price, and the cabinets feature plenty of steel and a durable powder coat finish. If weight alone is an indicator, the 72-inch locker requires a dolly to move its 200-plus-pound weight. Features abound, too, with perforated 'pegboard style' door trims and handsome two-point locking security doors.
The 14-inch-deep wall cabinet we saw held up to 200 pounds and had an adjustable shelf. The larger 72-inch cabinet has three adjustable shelves and one fixed shelf and can be filled with a 350-pound capacity (with more on top). We don't know what your garage looks like, but this will handle many of the tools, cans, and clutter in our garage.
While there are many products in the product line, here is a brief overview of what's available in terms of garage storage cabinets, both pedestal and wall mounted. I think you can get things organized for less than $1,000, and an entire garage can easily be outfitted for less than $2,000.
