Most of us are painfully aware of the labor shortage in the construction industry. For some of us, trying to keep up with work is also a pain as our bodies age. The Hilti Jaibot construction robot can solve the problems that plague us by using automation to fill in the gaps.
Hilti Jaibot Concept

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is an essential part of today's commercial and industrial building design. Hilti Jaibot integrates with your BIM design to handle overhead marking and drilling for mechanical, electrical and plumbing applications up to 16.5 feet. It is paired with a PLT 300 rotary laser that tracks its drilling arm within 1/8 inch.
Technically, this is a semi-autonomous system. While it doesn't require an expert to use, it does require human input and oversight. As such, it also includes a dust extraction system to ensure its caretaker and any bystanders are kept free from concrete dust and helps keep your workspace compliant with Table 1 requirements.
The benefit is that a trained operator can work with the robot, and you relieve your crew of overhead drilling – a literal pain point in the construction process.
Since Jaibot is tackling digital initiatives across multiple industries, you get cleaner holes, higher accuracy, fewer errors, and faster production. Positions, diameters and even hole depths are defined in advance by drilling plans. Plus, it sends project updates back to the system so you can track its progress in real time.
The robot can work for up to 8 hours on a single charge.
Hilti Jaibot 2022 Update
A big advantage of this type of technology is its ability to be updated through firmware and software. After spending time on the job site from late 2022, the design team made several changes.
First, the dust collection system can be upgraded to make it 30% more efficient.
There is a new sensor system to improve borehole depth accuracy and distance measurement.
Using the Hilti Cloud, 2D structural floor or installation plans now have more context information, better user management and filtering capabilities to build drill paths using diameter. There are more reporting features and options to export data and print 2D plans.
