HART Offers Brushless Motor Upgrade for Its Cordless 1/2" Impact Wrench
HART is expanding its line of garage-centric tools designed to provide plenty of power and performance for the weekend warrior. Today, our focus is on the HART Cordless 1/2" Impact Wrench, which offers improved torque and ergonomics, all without the hassle of annoying air hoses and compressors.
- No-load speed: 0-1000/2000/2800 RPM
- Impact rate: 0-3200 IPM
- Maximum Torque: 600 ft-lbs. (separated), 475 ft-lbs. (fasten)
- Motor Type: Brushless
HART's newest 1/2" impact wrench features a brushless motor and is in the medium torque category. It comes with three speed modes ranging from 0 to 2800 RPM with a maximum impact rate of 3200 impacts per minute.
Right from the start, this brushless impact wrench packs noticeably more power than its brushed predecessor. Its 600 foot-pounds of breakaway torque is a huge improvement over the HART HPIW01's 350 foot-pounds. In terms of tightening torque, you can use 475 ft-lbs.
With this kind of power, stubborn nuts and rusty bolts are no problem. One thing to keep in mind is the danger of overtightening the nuts and bolts. Unlike some high-end models, HART does not include any auxiliary modes to help prevent damage to threads or fasteners. Having said that, our recommendation is to keep your trusty torque wrench handy for precise torque applications.

The overall look and feel of this impact wrench is very pleasing. The handle is definitely chunkier, but it's contoured for my medium-sized hands. It's overmolded with textured rubber that really helps you get a firm grip on your tools, even with work gloves on.
This impact wrench weighs 3.6 lbs bare and even 5 lbs with a 4.0Ah battery. That's slightly below average for mid-torque models. The HART HPIW25 measures 7-1/2 inches from end to end and stands 10-1/4 inches tall, including batteries.
One of the great things about this impact wrench is the weight distribution. It's not overly top-heavy, and this balance helps reduce fatigue.
- Compatible with all HART 20V batteries
- LED work light
