HART 20V cordless impact driver showcases improved performance and design
You've probably seen us showcase a HART 20V cordless impact driver before, but today we're taking a look at HART's second generation brushless model. We already know from past experience that these are solid tools for new homeowners based on price and availability, but we wondered how this latest model compares to others on the DIY market.
HART Cordless Impact Driver Performance
- No-load speed: 0-3,000 RPM
- Impact rate: 0-3,900 IPM
- Maximum Torque: 2,200 in-lbs.
- Collet: 1/4" Quick Connect

The HART HPID26 uses a brushless motor to provide more power and speed than a brushed motor. It revs up to 3,000 RPM and hits 3,900 IPM, which is 100 more than before. This extra boost in shock rate should help with a little speed when driving larger fasteners.
HART Cordless Impact Driver Design Note
- Model: HART HPID26
- Power supply: HART 20V battery
- Weight: 2.4 lbs. (naked), 3.2 lbs. (with 2.0Ah battery)
- Head Length: 5.75 inches
- Tool Height: 9 inches
- LED work lights
The HART Gen 2 impact driver is very similar to the previous model with a few changes. It still has soft textured rubber overmolding on the handle to help you maintain a firm grip while you work. Additionally, the weight of the head is fully offset by the battery, making it easy to control.

This is where it's different. The HART tool HPID26 is 1/4 inch shorter and also has a 2.0Ah battery instead of a 1.5Ah, so overall you should expect longer run times. While the drop in overall length may seem negligible, the tool is more compact and will eventually allow you to get into tighter spaces than before.

HART also designed this impact driver with a 1/4" Hex Quick Chuck for one-handed bit insertion and ejection, allowing you to change bits on the fly.
Additional features
- variable speed trigger
- double sided belt hook
- Onboard bit storage
This HART 20V brushless impact driver retails for $94 bare or $128 in a kit that includes a 2.0Ah battery, charger, and a soft carrying case. HART offers a 3-year limited warranty on tools and batteries.
the bottom line
Consistent between performance, design, and price, the HART cordless impact driver ticks some important boxes for our workers. It's priced affordable for most, while still delivering light-to-mid-duty performance. There will definitely be trade-offs between this and the premium models, but if overall value is high on your priority list, the HART HPID26 Impact Driver is hard to pass up.
