Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM Blower Review BL60L512

Posted on May 9, 2023 by

Greenworks aims to help you kick your gas tank to the curb

If you've been thinking about kicking the habit of using a gas blower, now is the perfect time to switch to battery powered. The Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM Blower belongs to the elite group that breaks the 700 CFM mark, and we decided to take a closer look at its performance.

advantage

  • excellent runtime
  • excellent blowing power
  • comfortable grip
  • Naturally balanced with the battery
  • including straps

shortcoming

  • on the expensive side
  • Heavier than many battery-operated blowers

run

During our testing, we do our best to push the limits so you don't have to. In the OPE world, battery-powered tools are making waves. We were very impressed with the runtime of the Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM blower. Use 5.0Ah battery. We set the cruise control knob on high and watched this mighty blower run for almost 27 minutes, then 13 minutes in turbo mode.

It's not the longest runtime we've seen from a handheld blower, but it's one of the best and very impressive when you consider its level of performance.

Blowing power

Depending on the specs, you can get up to 700 CFM and 170 MPH from this blower. The 700 CFM figure is the one we've been waiting for. Only a very select group can claim that level.

Leaf blower cfm-vs-mph-vs-newton force

There is no easy calculation to compare these values to other blowers, but Newton's force gives us a number that shows how hard the blower is working. In addition to its excellent run time, this blower without the included concentrator nozzle produces 11.4N of force at high speed and 18.4N at turbo. With it (which is how we recommend using this model), we see an increase of 1.6N for both setups, to 13.0N and 20.0N respectively.

Hitting the 20.0N mark is a big deal for any battery powered blower. While we've tested other blowers that push a bit harder, this puts the Greenworks in the elite group when it comes to performance.

But it gets better. We got our hands on an 8.0Ah X-Range battery and did the force test again. This time, it pushes harder, making 13.5N on high speed and 21.1N on turbo. That's some serious blow power!

Considering the starting wattage of a gas powered handheld blower is around 12N, the Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM Blower definitely has more than enough power to replace many domestic gas models. Tough debris and leaves in the gutter don't stand a chance, especially once you're in turbo mode.

noise level

The noise level we measured from the operator's ears was right in the middle of the scale. On treble, our SPL meter read 82 dB(a), rising to 86 dB(a) with turbo boost.

Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM Blower Design Notes

weight and balance

This Greenworks Cordless Hair Dryer weighs 10.2 lbs and has a 5Ah battery, making it super easy to operate. This is actually one of the heavier handheld blowers available, though it's not oppressive. If you want to consider a smaller battery to save some weight, the tool weighs a bare 5.7 pounds.

Introducing the Greenworks Pro 60V 700 CFM Blower

A notable design feature is the balance of tools used. With the battery inserted, the blower naturally points downward at about a 45-degree angle. This may not seem like a big deal, but, this balance helps avoid wrist strain and improves overall comfort. In the end, the best tool is the one you want to use, and this design fits the bill.

Additional features

  • Brushless Motor
  • Shoulder loops (including straps)
  • variable speed trigger
  • cruise control
  • Compatible with all Greenworks 60V batteries

the bottom line

Greenworks targets high performance with their 700 CFM blowers, and they performed well in our tests, and the results put them in the elite category. Plus, they did it while maintaining the runtime numbers. It's a bit heavier than less powerful models, and you'll need to open your wallet a bit more to get it, but that's no surprise when you're pushing the limits of performance.
