Flex 24V 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench Kit FX1471

Posted on April 23, 2023 by

When fastening jobs call for power, reach for the Flex 24V High Torque Impact Wrench

Strength, long-lasting performance and efficiency are what we look for in impact wrenches. The Flex High Torque Impact Wrench looks absolutely impressive right out of the box. Let's run it through some quick tests to get a taste of some of the innovative features Flex has packed into this bad boy.

Flex introduces its 1/2" high torque impact wrench set with an impressive 800 foot-pounds and 1150 foot-pounds of tightening force. starting torque. It's not the tallest in the cordless world, but it's still very impressive. A sensorless brushless motor is paired with a 5.0Ah battery with a maximum speed of up to 2450 IPM and 2000 RPM. When you need more control, low and medium speeds net 500 and 1000 RPM.

For a passenger car, this level of power should have no problem with even the most stubborn lug nuts. As you start moving onto larger vehicles and equipment, you may find its limitations. There's a key to drive size, though. When using 1/2" square drivers, it is best not to use sockets smaller than 1 1/2". From there, it's time to look at 3/4-inch or 1-inch drives.

Flex 24V 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench Design Notes

vibration control

The Flex's unusual "shock shield" design isolates the motor housing from the handle, reducing vibration and making it very comfortable to operate compared to many high torque models.

weight and balance

Overall, the tool feels good in the hand and is well balanced, however, it is a bit on the heavy side. Its battery weighs a little over 9 pounds, which is heavier than some other cordless high-torque options.

auxiliary mode

Another nice feature is that the reverse mode kicks in when you loosen the fastener. This helps keep nuts and bolts from falling out of you, or worse, flying away in a way that could cause injury. After a few turns, the motor stops automatically, even though it never gets a shock.

Unusually, the striker does not have a complementary assist pattern. It operates the same as mode 3.

Additional features

  • LED work light
  • Therma-Tech Thermal Management
  • 5.0Ah Li-ion battery and 160W fast charger included in the kit
  • Flex Hardshell Phone Case

Flex 24V 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench Prices

This high torque 24V brushless impact wrench kit is very reasonably priced when you consider everything it includes. For $299, you'll receive the bare metal, a 5.0Ah battery, a 160W fast charger, and a tough hard-shell case. Flextronics offers a 5-year "end-to-end" warranty covering tools, batteries and registered chargers.

For early adopters of the Flex System, if you register by December 31, 2021, you can receive a lifetime warranty on tools, batteries and chargers.

the bottom line

In our opinion, this is a solid product. Three torque levels and removal modes make this tool useful in a variety of situations. Whether you're removing lug nuts in the garage or installing those 1" hex bolts at the job site, the Flex delivers the force you've come to expect from a high torque impact wrench.

As we write this, this is the only cordless impact wrench available on the Flex 24V system. We know it will expand quickly, and we want to see complementary compact and medium torque impact wrenches high on the priority list.
