EGO 56V Leaf Blower Review 2023

Posted on May 11, 2023 by

Many brands have one or two battery operated blowers. not ego. They have a lot of options, which is a good thing. It helps them position the market and make sure they have something for everyone. From the most powerful to the best value for money, we're here to help you find the right EGO 56V leaf blower for your needs.

Where to Buy EGO Lawn Care Equipment

EGO has a number of retail partners across the country. Lowe's and Ace Hardware are some you'll likely find near where you live. For online ordering, Acme Tools, Lowe's, and Amazon all have a wide range of products available.

Most Powerful EGO 56V Leaf Blower

EGO 765 CFM Blower LB7654

ego-765-cfm - the most powerful blower

If you want the benefits of a battery powered blower with the blowing power of a backpack blower, EGO's 765 CFM blower is just what you need. Not every homeowner needs this kind of power, and EGO has other models that may be a better fit. But when it comes to blowing performance, no other brand currently comes close (we measured over 25 Newtons!), and EGO leads the pack.

This is the most expensive of EGO's line of home handhelds, but it's also the most powerful handheld model they currently offer.

  • Air volume: 765 CFM
  • Airspeed: 200 MPH
  • Newton force: 25.3 N (26 N claimed)
  • Approximate run time with 5.0Ah battery: 13 minutes (Turbo), 22 minutes (High)
  • Weight: 4.69 lbs naked
  • Price: $229 bare metal, $329 with 5.0Ah battery and charger

Best All-around EGO Leaf Blower

EGO 650 CFM Blower LB6500

The EGO 650 CFM Leaf Blower represents a combination of power and runtime. This 56V EGO blower measured 20.3 Newtons on our bench when paired with the matching 5.0Ah battery. You can get even more (20.8 Newtons) if you load the heavier 7.5Ah battery.

It's the most expensive of EGO's home handhelds, but it's the most powerful of all the models out there.

  • Air volume: 650 CFM
  • Airspeed: 180 MPH
  • Newton force: 20.8 N (21 N claimed)
  • Approximate run time with 5.0Ah battery: 15 minutes (boost), 30 minutes (high), 200 minutes (low)
  • Weight: 4.77 lbs naked
  • Price: $199 bare metal, $299 with 5.0Ah battery and charger

Best Value EGO 56V Leaf Blower

EGO 530 CFM Blower LB5300 (LB5302 Kit)

In 2016, when we visited Chervon's manufacturing facility in Nanjing, China, we actually had to build our own EGO 530 CFM blower, which I still use weekly to clean my hard surfaces after mowing. 530 CFM may not seem all that impressive compared to the more powerful options EGO has, but it gets the job done quickly. At just $179 with a 2.5Ah battery and charger, it's our pick for the best value in the series.

  • Air volume: 530 CFM
  • Airspeed: 110 MPH
  • Newton force: 16.5 N
  • Approximate run time with 2.5Ah battery: 10 minutes (boost), 22 minutes (high), 75 minutes (low)
  • Weight: 4.81 lbs naked
  • Price: $149 bare metal, $179 with 2.5Ah battery and charger

Most Powerful EGO Backpack Blower

EGO 56V Backpack Blower LBX8000

EGO Commercial 56V Backpack Blower LBPX8004-2

We have not officially tested the EGO Commercial LBPX8004-2 56V Backpack Blower. This model goes even further than the impressive LBX6000, with more power, speed and runtime. With two batteries, you can use the same EGO 56V battery pack as other devices, but you have more potential run time. This is very attractive to commercial users who want similar performance to a mid-range knapsack gas blower.

  • Air volume: 800 CFM
  • Airspeed: 190 mph
  • Newton force: 26N (not tested)
  • Approximate run time with 2×6.0Ah batteries: 25 minutes (boost), 30 minutes (high), 120 minutes (low)
  • Weight: 16.3 lbs naked
  • Price: $399 bare, $699 with two 6.0Ah batteries, $1299 with two 10Ah batteries

Previous Model: EGO 56V Commercial Leaf Blower LBX6000

When EGO launched their commercial line of lawn care equipment, they threw us a curve ball. These tools still run on a 56V platform and rely on battery backpacks with much higher capacities than the 10.0Ah batteries. Like a backpack blower, this model puts the weight of the battery on your back, but keeps the motor and impeller in line for more efficient airflow.

In our tests, the blower produced a strong 18.2 Newtons. While it's not as powerful as a 650 CFM blower, its more moderate blowing force and high-capacity power supply allow it to run at high speed for up to 1 hour and 36 minutes. It even breaks the hour mark (1 hour 10 minutes) on the Turbo.

  • Air volume: 600 CFM
  • Airspeed: 146 MPH
  • Newton force: 18.2 N (claimed 19 N)
  • Approximate runtime with backpack battery: 1 hour 10 minutes (Boost), 1 hour 36 minutes (High), 5 hours 48 minutes (Low)
  • Weight: 5.95 lbs naked
  • Price: $399 bare metal

more choices

EGO 615 CFM Blower LB6150

EGO's 615 CFM blower falls between the 530 and 650 CFM models, offering mid-range blowing power without hitting the 650 price point. If you already own other EGO products, the bare tool is only $10 more than Ace Hardware's 530 and offers a huge performance boost.

  • Air volume: 615 CFM
  • Airspeed: 170 MPH
  • Newton force: 18.5 N
  • Approximate run time with 2.5Ah battery: 10 minutes (boost), 15 minutes (high), 100 minutes (low)
  • Weight: 4.74 lbs
  • Price: $219 kit with 2.5Ah battery and charger

EGO 580 CFM Blower LB5800

The 580 CFM model replaces the 575. Although the CFM ratings are very similar, this model increases the maximum airspeed to 168 MPH and increases to 18.0 Newtons. While not as widely available as other models, this kit costs more than a 615 CFM blower, although the kit does come with a 5.0Ah battery instead of a 2.5Ah. Either way, you'll probably want to do some price comparisons before pulling the trigger.

  • Air volume: 580 CFM
  • Airspeed: 168 MPH
  • Newton force: 18.0 N
  • Approximate run time with 5.0Ah battery: 18 minutes (boost), 30 minutes (high), 200 minutes (low)
  • Weight: 4.77 lbs
  • Price: About $160 with 5.0Ah battery and charger

EGO 480 CFM Blower LB4800

EGO's 480 CFM blower has the lightest blowing force available. At just over $100 for a bare tool, this tool is best for tackling hard surfaces after mowing and maintaining small lawns. The kit price is actually slightly higher than the 530, so if you need a battery and charger, go for the performance.

  • Air volume: 480 CFM
  • Airspeed: 92 MPH
  • Newton force: not tested
  • Approximate run time with 2.0Ah battery: 10 minutes (boost), 18 minutes (high), 60 minutes (low)
  • Weight: 5.16 lbs
  • Price: About $160 with 2.5Ah battery and charger

EGO 56V Combo Kit

EGO Thread Trimmer and Blower Combo ST1502LB

This combo combines EGO's 15-Inch Cord Trimmer, Quick Loading Bullet, and 530 CFM Blower. At $279 with a 2.5Ah battery and charger, it's an excellent entry into the platform. Be careful though. Lawn mowers and hedge trimmers are just around the corner once you discover how convenient it is to mow and blow on batteries. Before you know it, you'll be wanting the Z6 Zero Turn and Power Head Attachment System!

EGO Mower, Mower and Blower Combo

There are several 3-tool combos that combine a mower, mower, and blower to get you started with battery-operated lawn care at a better price. All three products include EGO's 15-Inch String Trimmer with Quick-Load Bullet and 580 CFM Blower.

The most affordable includes EGO's 21-inch walk-behind lawn mower with a 5.0Ah battery for $669. This is best for smaller lawns where you can mow, mow and blow with just one battery. Of course, you can always add more to extend the runtime.

For $809, you'll get the EGO LM2100SP 21-inch Self-Propelled Lawn Mower with a 7.5Ah battery. You should be able to mow, trim and blow a quarter of an acre with ease on that battery.

For a little more to $749, you'll get better cut quality. This upgrades you to an EGO Select Cut self-propelled lawn mower with a 7.5Ah battery. This is a good choice for lawns up to 1/4 acre and will allow you to better cut thick grass such as St. Augustine.
