Posted on May 8, 2023 by

Echo battery-powered leaf blower outperforms its handheld air-powered counterpart

While this isn't the first time the Echo has run on a battery-powered leaf blower, it's shaping up to be the most powerful handheld model yet. We're taking a closer look at the Echo DPB-2500 Leaf Blower to highlight some key features so you can decide if it's right for you.

Echo Battery Operated Leaf Blower Performance

  • Maximum Airflow: 526 CFM
  • Maximum airspeed: 151 mph
  • Noise Level: 78 dB (High), 81 dB (Turbo)
  • Run time: 16 minutes 8 seconds (High Speed), 9 minutes 29 seconds (Turbo)

From the get-go, it's clear that the Echo's 56V battery-powered blower is no slouch, even when compared to their handheld air-powered alternatives. In terms of power, the DPB-2500's brushless motor produces 549 CFM, and with Turbo mode it can produce over 17 Newtons of blowing force. Those stats put this model at the top of the Echo's list of handheld hair dryers — not bad for a cordless hair dryer!

Echo Battery Operated Leaf Blower Design Notes

  • Model: ECHO DPB-2500
  • Weight: 5.6 lbs. (naked), 7.8 lbs. (with 2.5Ah battery)

The Echo eForce X-Series blowers are designed with both residential lawn enthusiasts and landscaping professionals in mind. Its handle is overmolded with smooth rubber for a secure grip and the spout sits naturally downward at a comfortable 45° angle.

The Echo utilizes a variable-speed trigger for maximum control and a turbo mode for tougher debris. They also include a thumb-operated cruise control dial to give your fingers a break from prolonged use.

Additional features

  • Includes concentrator nozzle
  • Integrated anchor points in the base for vertical storage

The Echo eForce Leaf Blower is available as a kit from your local Home Depot for $229. It includes a 2.5Ah battery and a single-port charger. Additionally, Echo backs the kit with a 5-year residential or 2-year commercial warranty, depending on the application.

the bottom line

The Echo 56V Battery Operated Leaf Blower has some major improvements in airspeed, run time, and overall performance. Having said that, it's not without limitations. Clearing driveways and sidewalks won't take long, but based on run time alone, it might be more difficult to remove fall leaves, so you might want to keep a spare battery on hand. Regardless, the DPB-2500 is an excellent choice for weekend fanatics as well as professionals looking for an alternative to air blowers.
