Dixie Chopper Zee 2 HP Features
The Dixie Chopper Zee 2 HP range includes two models. The 2448KW has a cutting width of 48 inches, while the 2454KW has a cutting width of 54 inches for a larger cutting area. Aside from the width of the welded 10-gauge steel cutting deck, the mowers offer nearly identical features and specifications.

Both Dixie Chopper mowers feature a 24 hp Kawasaki FR engine for cutting power and speed. Additionally, the Dixie Chopper Zee 2 HP mower uses a Hydro-Gear ZT-3100 transaxle. This pro-grade drivetrain features shock valves, a boost pump, steel-cut gears and a serviceable filter.
Speed and Coverage
For reference, you can expect the 48-inch model to tackle 3.1 acres per hour, and the 54-inch mower to cut 3.4 acres per hour. Between the engine, drivetrain, and larger 22-inch tires, both mowers have a top speed of around 8 mph. That might be slow for a business model, but it's acceptable speed for a home lawn mower. For comparison, here are some common speeds for home zero-turn lawn mowers on the market today:
- Husqvarna – 6.5 mph
- Toro – 7 MPH
- John Deere Z300 Series – 7 MPH
- Cub Cadet – 7 to 7.5 MPH
- Snapper – 6 to 8 MPH
- Dixie Chopper Zee 2 HP – 8 MPH
- John Deere Z500 Series – 8.5 MPH
Operator controlled discharge chute
Unique to the Dixie Chopper line, the Zee 2 HP mower offers an operator controlled discharge chute (OCDC). The OCDC system allows you to open and close the discharge chute, switching between covered and side discharge with a handle that you can access anytime from your seat. This minimizes necessary clearing around driveways and sidewalks, and provides some measure of safety for nearby people and property.

Dixie Chopper also installed an upgraded seat on these mowers. ISO 360 mounts provide suspension, while the plush seat gives you some cushioning to tackle rough terrain.
our thoughts
We see a lot of Dixie Chopper mowers in Central Florida. Professionals seem to really like them because they provide a reliable and simple machine to get the job done. Most importantly, we heard good things about their speed and handling. Once I did hear a complaint about one of their lawnmowers – I found the machine had been running for over a decade with hardly any serious issues…bringing those qualities to the residential line – then by releasing the new models to keep up with it—making these new Dixie Chopper Zee 2 HP even more promising.
