DeWalt's cordless 12-inch miter saw requires only one FlexVolt battery
Back in 2016, we got DeWalt's FlexVolt 12-inch miter saw, which required two FlexVolt batteries for power. Now, the brand is instead focusing on delivering more power from a single battery and bringing some new technology to its latest generation of miter saws. We wanted to take a closer look at what else has changed with the introduction of the DeWalt 60V 12" Miter Saw.
DeWalt 60V 12-Inch Miter Saw: A Great Deal

When you compare DeWalt's DCS781 miter saw to its predecessor, there are many differences. Most notably, the power supply went from requiring two FlexVolt batteries to requiring only one. Still, there is no loss of power or runtime. In 3 1/4" base molding, the older model achieved up to 289 cuts per charge, while the DCS781 improves that number to up to 675 cuts per charge.
DeWalt also decided to eliminate the AC power adapter in the 60V 12-inch miter saw. However, we don't think getting a full day of runtime on the job will be a problem, especially if you're carrying multiple FlexVolt batteries.
Another change DeWalt made was a lot of weight loss. The older DHS790AT2 model weighed 68.8 lbs bare, but with the newer saw you're looking at just over 50 lbs.

Additionally, the DCS781 saw features regenerative braking technology, which increases run time by redirecting lost energy back to the battery, similar to the RBS brakes you see in cars. The saw's bevel drive transmission also reduces power loss that can occur with belt drive designs.
