We've used a lot of the best pressure washers over the years, and we consistently turn to Simpson because we get better quality and performance than other models for the same price. Still, there are plenty of options for Simpson pressure washers, so we decided to help you narrow down our lineup of favorites.
choose the right level
Simpson pressure washers are specifically designed to meet the needs of many different levels. Choose the right product for your needs to ensure you get the best experience within your budget.
- Residential: Cleaning Machine
- Prime Home: MegaShot
- Commercial: Pro Series, PowerShot, Aluminum and Water Blaster
- Industrial: Industrial, Water Shotgun, Super Pro and Rentals
There are other special categories as well as replacement pumps, hoses and fittings. Since we're guessing you're here for a traditional pressure washer, we'll focus on the first three categories.
Comparing the cleaning power of pressure washers
When you're comparing pressure washer ratings and flow rates, an easy way to see how they match up is to multiply the PSI and GPM. This gives you a general "cleaning power" rating, the higher the better. Here is an example:
Model A | Type B | Type C | |
---|---|---|---|
PSI | 3600 psi | 3200 psi | 2300 psi |
gross profit margin | 2.1 Gross profit margin | 2.5 gallons | 1.2 Gross profit margin |
cleaning power | 7560 | 8000 | 2760 |
While it might seem like the 3600 PSI model is the sweet spot, the 3200 PSI model actually has pattern cleaning capabilities that can help you get your job done more efficiently.
Well, let's get on with the recommendations!
Clean Machine 2300 PSI Electric Pressure Washer

Without a doubt, our favorite Simpson electric pressure washer is the Clean Machine CM60976. With a maximum pressure of 2300 PSI and a water flow rate of up to 1.2 GPM, there are few options that will give you more cleaning power without using a gas engine. This one gets a brushless motor upgrade. Although this is something we typically see on cordless power tools, pressure washers have the advantage of being low maintenance and long-lasting compared to brushed motors.

Best Simpson 3000 PSI Pressure Washers (2800 – 3000 PSI)
Residential: Simpson Clean Machine 2800 PSI Pressure Washer

At $299, Simpson's Clean Machine CM61081 is a great option for getting into an air-operated pressure washer, and it costs nothing compared to electric options. With a maximum rating of 2800 PSI and 2.3 GPM, you'll find it cleans significantly faster than corded units.
A small drawback is that it only has room for three nozzles: 0º, 25º and soap. If you want to add the 15º, 40º and/or turbo nozzles that come with some pressure washers, you have to add them separately.
Price: $299
Senior Residential: Simpson MegaShot 3000 PSI Pressure Washer with 15-Inch Surface Scrubber

If you're willing to drop into the premium residential tier for around $100, you'll get some of the goodness of the Simpson MegaShot MS60805-S. For starters, you can get more powerful cleaning power with pressures up to 3000 PSI and volumes up to 2.4 GPM.
The unit is powered by a Honda GCV160 engine known for its reliability. Simpson also includes their 15-inch Surface Scrubber. A surface scrubber can save you hours of work on the driveway and it's the number one add-on we recommend, so the fact that this MegaShot pressure comes with one is a huge bonus in our opinion.
Price: $399
Best Simpson 3200 PSI Pressure Washers (3100 – 3300 PSI)
Residential: Simpson Clean Machine 3300 PSI Pressure Washer

If your cleaning needs are higher than entry-level gasoline can handle, check out Simpson's Cleaner CM61117 for the perfect balance of performance and value. Simpson turned to a Kohler SH265 engine and its OEM Technologies axial lobe pump to deliver up to 3300 PSI and 2.4 GPM.
Unlike our previously recommended Clean Machine, this one comes with a full set of nozzles: 0°, 15°, 25°, 40° and soap. This one also switches from thinner flat-less wheels to 10-inch air-powered wheels, which make it easier to pull the pressure washer across your lawn.
Price: $349
Senior Residential: Simpson MegaShot 3300 PSI Pressure Washer with 15-Inch Surface Cleaner

Are you feeling the themes we recommend? We really like the Honda Engine Advantage within your budget and we highly recommend the Surface Scrubber. Entering this power class, Simpson's MS61033-S features a Honda GCV190 engine that delivers 3300 PSI and 2.4 GPM from its OEM Technology axial lobe pump.
Price: $449
Commercial: Simpson PowerShot 3300 PSI Pressure Washer

A commercial grade pressure washer comes into play with Simpson's PowerShot PS3228. It uses a commercial-grade Honda GX200 engine and converts from an axial cam to a AAA triplex pump. This combination leaves you with a machine designed for more frequent use over extended periods of time. This entry-level commercial model uses 5/16-inch hose and has a pressure of 3300 PSI and a flow rate of 2.5 GPM.
Price: $599
Best Simpson 3500 PSI Pressure Washers (3400 – 3700 PSI)
Residential: Simpson Clean Machine 3500 PSI Pressure Washer with 15-Inch Surface Scrubber

Simpson's Clean Machine CM61118 is a step up in power, using the same Kohler SH265 engine as our previous recommendation. This time it was paired with a AAA AX300 axial lobe pump, tuned to 3500 PSI and 2.5 GPM.
In addition to higher performance levels, Simpson includes their 15" surface scrubbers and kits as well as their standard 5-piece nozzle set and hoses up to 5/16".
Price: $499
Senior Residential: Simpson MegaShot 3400 PSI Pressure Washer

The MegaShot MS61084-S (or 61085 if you're shopping online) boasts top-of-the-line residential performance with a powerplant switch back to Kohler for 3400 PSI and 2.5 GPM using their SH265 engine and OEM Technologies axial lobe pump.
Note that the hose on this model has also been increased from 1/4" to 5/16". It's also less expensive than the MegaShot we've previously recommended, but it doesn't include the surface scrubber.
Price: $499
Commercial: Simpson Pro Series 3700 PSI Pressure Washer

Boosting the pressure, the Simpson Pro Series PS60982 features a Honda GX200 engine and gets an extra performance boost from its AAA triplex pump with PowerBoost. Reaching 3700 PSI and 2. 5 GPM, this commercial-grade pressure washer features a 50-foot 5/16-inch hose to extend your reach beyond the standard 25-foot hose. If you're looking for the best power you can get without significantly increasing your overall size, this is the place.
Price: $699
Best Simpson 4000 PSI Pressure Washers (3800 – 4200 PSI)
commercial

When you start looking at the 4000 PSI level, you're moving away from residential models and into what you should expect from a commercially built pressure washer. Simpson has a few good options, and we like the PowerShot PS4240 in place of the aluminum-framed ALH4240.
Producing 4200 PSI and 4.0 GPM, that's about as much cleaning power as you could hope for without jumping into a Simpson belt drive model. To get that power, Simpson used a Honda GX390 engine and paired it with a AAA triplex pump with PowerBoost. At this level, it also uses 50 feet of 3/8-inch hose.
