Finding the best brushless power tool combination kit isn't easy. There are various power tool kit options out there. When starting out, many professionals peruse 5- and 6-piece kits that give them a lot of tools at once. In fact, you can find brushless combo kits in almost any size. Smaller kits tend to miss out on one tool or another that professionals want.
When we set out to find the best power tool combination kit overall, the Milwaukee and Makita ended up with an unfair advantage. Our goal is to look at kits that include drills, impact drivers, circular saws, and reciprocating saws (wherever possible). DeWalt and other companies also have kits like this, and often they add a task light. We also find crazy tool deals throughout the year, offering discounts and even free bare metal tools – so keep an eye out for those opportunities too.
All of the kits on this list use brushless motors. This guarantees extended run times and the ability for these tools to complete most tasks without slowing down or stopping. What's most exciting about comparing the three kits is that while there are some differences, none of them disappoint.
Makita XT707PT 18V LXT 7-Piece Set (5.0Ah)

Makita took the top spot in a race that was competitive on nearly every point considered. In the end, its balance of performance, ergonomics, and price gives it an edge over the rest. Although you can expect to spend around $1039 for this kit, you do get some great tools with near-top performance.
For anyone already obsessed with Makita, this kit is a great way to speed up your collection with some solid high-performance tools. Add a Makita X-Lock oscillating multi-tool and maybe a jigsaw puzzle to round out your collection.

- DeWalt 20V Max XR 6 Tool Combo Kit
Milwaukee M18 FUEL Brushless 6 Tool Kit

The Milwaukee team comes out on top for overall performance—even if the kit's $1,199 price tag might surprise you. Every tool in this kit came close to the top in our head-to-head tests. It's the consistent 1st and 2nd place finishing that puts this best brushless power tool combo kit a notch above the rest.
You can get less expensive Milwaukee combo kits, but this one has the FUEL designation for a top tool. If you want to start using some very powerful Milwaukee brushless power tools, it makes perfect sense to go straight to the M18 FUEL series.

When it comes to ergonomics, DeWalt and Makita are a match. The Makita tends to be more compact and lighter, while the DeWalt tends to fit better in the hand. At the end of the day, the difference between the two probably boils down to simple preference. DeWalt has just a slight edge for me, and it's affordable in this compact 6-piece combo kit. For around $879, you can get some pretty solid tools, including their compact reciprocating saw that lets you get into tight spaces without sacrificing power.
The Milwaukee's design has more of a "heavy only" feel, with a less polished handle design and slightly heavier construction.

DeWalt 20V Max 10 Tool Kit

This 10-Tool Brushless Power Tool Combo Kit from DeWalt gives you an amazing amount of tools. If you're looking for value, the $599 price tag seems too good to be true. Beyond that, you get all the core tools—a circular saw, impact driver, drill, and full-size reciprocating saw—should be the starting point for your DeWalt cordless power tool collection.
Hardly anyone competes with this kind of pricing — proof that DeWalt really wants to encourage people to jump on its platform.

- DeWalt 20V Max XR 6 Tool Combo Kit
- Makita 18V LXT Lithium Ion Brushless Cordless 6-Pack. Combination kit (5.0Ah)

- Model: DeWalt DCK695P2
- Price: $879
- Warranty: 3-year limited
Pros: Great ergonomics, complete brushless kit, very good hammer drill, great circular saw and impact driver, great lineup of 20V Max tools, brushless oscillating multitool included, 5.0 AH battery
Cons: Warranty could be longer, reciprocating saws are DeWalt's weak link
Bottom line: Performance specs are one thing, but head-to-head testing doesn't lie. The DeWalt took first place in our Impact Driver Shootout and was also the top performer of the three circular saws in the group. DeWalt also offers the only 7-1/4" circular saw in this set. While the torque level of the bit in the kit isn't as high as the Milwaukee and Makita, it's still a solid performer.
The weak point of this kit is the compact reciprocating saw. Its stroke speed is much lower than other stroke speeds. DeWalt reciprocating saws aren't exactly known for their vibration control and cutting speed either. Still, you get a compact model that can help you get into tighter spots.
DeWalt ditched the add-on tool for the angle grinder and added an oscillating multi-tool instead. Contractors who focus more on trim work will really appreciate this move.

Makita XT707PT 18V LXT Brushless 7-Piece Kit Details

- Model: Makita XT611PT

- Warranty: 3-year limited
Pros: Great ergonomics, complete brushless kit, great circular saw and impact driver, great reciprocating saw and hammer drill, great lineup of 18V LXT tools, brushless angle grinder included, 5.0 AH battery
Cons: Warranty may be longer
Bottom line: There really aren't any bad tools in this group, although the grinder is the most limiting tool. Makita went head-to-head with Milwaukee with their hammer drill, and their two reciprocating saws earned the same rating from our pros.
Impact drivers rank lowest of the three kits, but only because one of them has to be. It's an excellent model, well ahead of most other brands.

- Dual Port Charger (DC18RD)

- Model: Milwaukee 2998-27
- Price: $1,099
- Warranty: 5-year limited
PROS: Excellent reciprocating saw, excellent impact driver, circular saw and impact drill, 5.0 Ah battery, brushless angle grinder, deep M18 line, 5 year tool warranty, complete brushless FUEL kit
Cons: Pricey compared to closest competition
Bottom line: Like the Makita, you'll be the grinder's biggest limitation in this group, but it's still a tool worth owning. Impact drills are second only to Makita, and impact drivers are just behind DeWalt. All things considered, there is very little difference in the ratings of recip saws in Milwaukee and Makita.
Milwaukee has the best cordless circular saw in the 6-1/2" class, but DeWalt leads the way with their new 7-1/4" DCS570. The only real downside to the Milwaukee jersey is that it's significantly more expensive than both competitors. But your tool also has a 2-year warranty and is arguably better built.

There are several advantages to brushless motors in cordless tools. First, they are less maintenance since there is no need to replace the carbon brushes. They run cooler and last longer than brushed models. But perhaps most importantly, they can run up to 50% longer than brushed motors, often resulting in a performance boost.
For professionals, the era of brushless motors has arrived, and it's time to join in.
